For the past 15 years, Matt Cushman has been with Old National Bank where he has contributed to a variety of investment mandates and research teams over his career. Currently, in his role as Senior Managing Director of Equity Strategies for 1834, a division of Old National Bank, Matt oversees the research team responsible for stock selection and portfolio construction of Old National’s various individual equity portfolios.
Matt also performs macroeconomic and capital markets-based analysis, where conclusions then factor into industry rotation, risk-factor exposure and asset allocation decisions across the entire investment research footprint.
His significant contributions include:
- Leading the equity portfolios team to consistently execute on their strategy objectives, providing compelling risk-adjusted returns over full market cycles.
- Serving as the Director of Outside Manager Research, covering the due diligence process across all third-party investment strategies managed on platforms outside of Old National. The scope of that responsibility primarily included mutual funds, money markets, exchange-traded funds and separately managed accounts.
- Obtaining the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation and serving on the Board of Directors for the CFA Society of Indianapolis from 2018 to 2022. While on the board, Matt helped support financial literacy objectives and participated in the CFA Institute Research Challenge as the industry mentor for local university students competing in the event.
Matt graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, double majoring in mathematics and economics while minoring in psychology.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys doing any type of physical activity, experiencing new cities, watching sports and spending time with his family.
