David Sprague serves as the Chief Fiduciary Officer (CFO) for Old National Wealth Management, including 1834, a division of Old National Bank. In his CFO role he is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the integrity of fiduciary operations, including trust and estate administration, investment management, and compliance with relevant laws and regulatory standards. In short, David’s job is to ensure Old National Wealth Management is always acting in the best interest of its clients.
David has decades of personal trust and estate experience first as a private practice attorney, then as a trust officer for Old National, and most recently serving as a Trust Counsel for Old National Wealth Management. He chose a career in wealth management because it allows him to utilize his legal background and passion for helping clients navigate complex financial and estate planning issues to work toward the client’s desired financial future.
Prior to joining Old National, David was a partner and shareholder in a law firm where his practice included estates and trusts, business and real estate, probate, Medicaid, special needs and Veterans Administration planning. The focus of David's practice was establishing and growing businesses and personal wealth and protecting those assets for future generations through proper estate planning.
David received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and obtained his law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. He continued his legal education as a student at the Wayne State University School of Law in the LL.M. taxation program, completing classes in estate and gift taxation and taxation of corporations.
Outside of work, David enjoys a wide range of hobbies from coaching youth sports and volunteering for his local church to hunting and camping. But his favorite thing to do is spend time with his family – which most often takes the form of chauffeuring teen sports stars to various tournaments where he gets to enjoy gourmet concession-stand cuisine and the finest in folding chair or bleacher seating (and he wouldn’t trade it for anything).
