With nearly 40 years of experience in wealth management, David is one of the most tenured advisors on the 1834 team. In addition to having valuable experience in retirement plans for individuals, his area of expertise is estate planning where he leverages his legal degree to help families effectively manage their assets and navigate tax planning. He is well-versed in Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills and other documents to protect his clients and their families. David graduated from Hanover College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and then went on to earn a JD from the Indiana University School of Law where he focused on estate planning. A military veteran and 23-year retiree, David was a Judge Advocate General Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He joined the company in 2002.
A life-long learner, David annually attends the Notre Dame Tax and Estate Planning Institute conference, one of the top 5 estate planning conferences in the nation, to further strengthen his estate planning knowledge and stay informed of new industry developments. He is a member and past president of the Hoosier Hills Estate Planning Council.
David, who has lived in Bloomington essentially his whole life, is very active within his community.

- He’s a member of the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team.
- He regularly volunteers for his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
David and his wife have four adult children and enjoy spending time with their family and eight grandchildren.
